LOS ANGELES (CelebrityAccess) — Actor Luke Perry died on Monday just days after suffering a massive stroke at his home in Sherman Oaks. He was 52.
“Actor Luke Perry, 52, passed away today after suffering a massive stroke,” read a statement from Perry’s rep. “He was surrounded by his children Jack and Sophie, fiancé Wendy Madison Bauer, ex-wife Minnie Sharp, mother Ann Bennett, step-father Steve Bennett, brother Tom Perry, sister Amy Coder, and other close family and friends. The family appreciates the outpouring of support and prayers that have been extended to Luke from around the world, and respectfully request privacy in this time of great mourning. No further details will be released at this time.”
Perry was hospitalized on February 27th and remained under observation for five days but was unable to recover.
Perry, who most recently starred as Fred Andrews on the CW series Riverdale, was best known for his role as Dylan McKay on the breakout Fox drama Beverly Hills, 90210 from 1990-1995 and when he returned to the series in 1998 until 2000.
Perry also appeared on the big screen in films such as Buffy The Vampire Slayer, The 5th Element, The Heist, Indiscreet and most recently, a role in Quentin Tarantino’s upcoming Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.
Coincidentally, a revival of Beverly Hills, 90210 was announced on the same day that Perry suffered his stroke. While he was not officially announced for the revival, many of his former co-stars had signed on for the project.
