NASHVILLE (CelebrityAccess) Jerry Lee Lewis, 83, suffered a stroke Thursday evening but is expected to make a full recovery, according to representative Zach Farnum.
“He is with his family, recuperating in Memphis and the doctors expect a full recovery,” Farnum said in a statement. “The Killer looks forward to getting back into the studio soon to record a gospel record and on the road performing live for his fans. His family requests privacy at this time. Well wishes and prayers are greatly appreciated.”
In a call with The Tennnessean, Farnum added that Lewis wasn’t canceling any shows, including one in May at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival.
“He’s a devout Christian,” Farnum said. “We’re just asking for prayers and support and privacy.”
The Killer has dialed back performances in recent years but continues to play. He PLayed Stagecoach in 2017 and Riot Fest in Chicago last year. Last fall, he was at Sun Studio in Memphis with Mick Jagger and producer Steve Bing for a planned movie project on Sun founder Sam Phillips starring Leonardo DiCaprio, according to the Tennessean. HIs most recent performance was in Greenville, S.C., Feb. 16.
