LONDON (CelebrityAccess) — The long-running London concert hall KOKO announced that it is shuttering for the next year to undergo a major refurbishment.
A statement from the venue said it will host two final events before it goes dark, with the first scheduled to take place on March 2nd.
The venue will be dark for the rest of the year and intends to reopen its doors in Spring 2020.
The 2,300-capacity venue, formerly known as Camden Palace, has been operating as KOKO since it was acquired in 2004 by noted British entertainment exec Oliver Bengough’s Mint Group.
The venue last underwent a major refurb after its 2004 acquisition but last year was abruptly forced to close for several weeks in September in October due to “structural issues” discovered during construction work at the venue.
“We place the utmost value on our relationships with our clients, but we were unable to work around the diary. The nature of the work means that there is no alternative to a full closure,” KOKO spokesman Larry Seymour said at the time. “We offer sincere and heartfelt apologies to all our clients and customers who have been affected by the closure. Our contractors are working diligently and at all speed to ensure that we are able to welcome back a full programme of events as soon as possible.”
