TORONTO (CelebrityAccess) — Sandra Faire, an award-winning Canadian television producer, and philanthropist, died on February 27th in Toronto. No age or cause of death was provided.
Faire was best known for her long career as a pioneering television writer and producer, for successful shows on CTV and The Comedy Network. Her credits include So You Think You Can Dance Canada, Comedy Inc. and Comedy Now, helped to launch the careers of Canadian comedians such as Russell Peters, Brent Butt, and Gavin Crawford.
She started her career in broadcasting at the CBC, where she produced hit shows such as the Joyce Davidson Show, and Comics. She also did a stint as a producer for CTV News’ investigative journalism program W5.
In 1997, she launched Sandra Faire & Associates, a private production company that produced programming for CTV and the Comedy Network, including music specials for Canadian artists such as k.d. lang, Bryan Adams, Buffy Sainte-Marie, The Rankin Family, Amanda Marshall, and Anne Murray.
In addition to her work in broadcast, she was a noted philanthropist, and according to CTV, she made donations to numerous arts institutions such as the National Ballet School of Canada and the Art Gallery of Ontario. She also served on the board of directors for the National Ballet of Canada.
“Passionate, creative, and generous, Sandra Faire was fiercely supportive of Canadian talent in arts and entertainment,” said Randy Lennox, President, Bell Media in a press statement about her passing. “She was a trailblazer for women in film and television whose commitment to excellence helped set the standard for production in this country. She was a true partner to Ivan and will be greatly missed.”
She is survived by her husband Ivan Fecan.
