SYDNEY, Australia (CelebrityAccess) Australian police descended on a small festival near Sydney, Australia, and arrested one man and gave notices to a dozen festivalgoers for drub possession.
The local press dubbed it the latest action in a so-called “war on festivals” in New South Wales. The police operation was at the final Secret Garden Festival to target “anti-social behaviour, alcohol-related crime and liquor licensing legislation,” according to police. NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian has introduced tough new measures to combat the recent deaths at festivals over the past five months and that includes tough licensing provisions and harsh penalties for drug dealers.
A veteran festival member close to the organizer told News.com.au that there more police at the festival than he had seen before.
The boutique rural festival, which donates its profits to charity, said that the 2019 run would be its last.
