LONDON (CelebrityAccess) The ratings for the 2091 BRIT Awards were down from last year’s awards show but still drew a healthy amount of younger viewers, according to Music Week.
The awards show, which took place at The O2 in London Feb. 20, featured extravagant sets including an explosive opening by Hugh Jackman, yet pulled in 400,000 fewer viewers than last year. It still drew a healthy 22 percent share, down from 23 percent last year.
BRIT Chairman and Sony UK boss Jason Iley predicted the fall, telling Music Week in advance: “Clearly I don’t want to wake up on Thursday the 21st and see the viewing figures go down… But the reality is, they’ll probably be down again. If you look at the way that people consume TV properties, the numbers are getting less. We had six million the first time I did it, five million the second. We know the TV audience numbers are going down.”
Digital amounts from YouTube and social media are not yet available.
