LOS ANGELES (CelebrityAccess) Although the band/comedy collective signed to a major booking agency many years ago, it’s only now that the Lonely Island is hitting the road for the first time.
Andy Samberg, Akiva Schaffer and Jorma Taccone have announced their inaugural tour, starting with Bonnaroo June 15, then hitting Philadelphia, New York, Boston and more before wrapping in Minneapolis June 29. Its first-ever live performance came last year when they threw it on the ground at Clusterfest in San Francisco with special guests Michael Bolton, T-Pain and Chris Parnell, all of whom are part of the Lonely Island’s famed video catalog.
That performance garnered the following reviews:
The Lonely Island packed gloriously dumb jokes into a live concert that had its audience roaring with laughter,” said SFWEEKLY.com
“You’ve never really lived until you’ve seen the American classic ‘Jizz in My Pants’ live, which means the vast majority of the planet has never really lived,” said COMPLEX.com
And from The San Francisco Chronicle, “Many of the best moments of the night can’t be described easily, either because of the boundary-pushing adult content, or the creative stage work.”
The trio has more than 6.8 million subscribers on YouTube and more than 2.3 billion views on their YouTube channel. Along with well-established hits like “I’m On A Boat,” Lonely Island is also credited with co-writing the Oscar-nominated “Everything is Awesome,” the theme song from “The Lego Movie.”
