NEW YORK (CelebrityAccess) — Martin Bandier, Chairman and CEO of Sony/ATV Music Publishing, will be presented with the Visionary Leadership Award at the 50th Annual Songwriters Hall of Fame Induction and Awards Dinner when it takes place in New York City on June 13th.

The Visionary Leadership Award is presented to members of the Songwriter’s Hall of Fame Board of Directors who have had a major impact on the public profile of the Songwriter’s Hall. Bandier will be one of only four recipients for the award, joining a select group that also includes SHOF Chairman Emeritus, Hal David, Del Bryant, and John A. Lofrumento

“The SHOF has long benefitted from Marty’s advice, guidance, wisdom and constant support,” said SHOF President & CEO Linda Moran. “Always the consummate professional and avid songwriters’ champion, he has consistently encouraged us to raise the bar toward achieving our early goals and fulfilling our ongoing mission. It goes without saying that Marty has played a considerable role in the Songwriters Hall of Fame’s becoming one of the music industry’s most prestigious organizations. We are very pleased to acknowledge his contributions with the Visionary Leadership Award.”

Bandier is one of the best-known names in the world of music publishing and has helmed Sony/ATV, which may well be the world’s most powerful music publishing operation since 2006. Prior to Sony/ATV, Bandier led EMI’s music publishing division for almost two decades, helping to turn it into a publishing powerhouse that was later acquired by a Sony/ATV-led consortium for more than $2bn.

Bandier got his start in the industry in 1975, when he, Sam LeFrak and Charles Koppelman formed The Entertainment Company. He went on to co-found the Entertainment Music Company and SBK Entertainment World, where he modernized music publishing by expanding the use of the catalogue in commercials, films, sound recordings, and stage productions, as well as establishing an advanced collection system for the company’s copyright holdings.

Last September, he announced that he was departing from Sony/ATV and it has since been revealed that he earned an estimated $100m from Sony’s acquisition of Mubadala’s 60% stake in EMI Music Publishing.
