NEW YORK (CelebrityAccess) — The NYPD is reportedly investigating a senior police official who allegedly told his officers to “shoot” 50 Cent” on sight.
According to the New York Post, commanding officer of Sunset Park’s 72nd Precinct was alleged to have made the comment in June, during a police meeting before a boxing match that the rapper was scheduled to attend. Gonzalez later characterized the comment as a joke.
The police department confirmed to the Post that “the matter is under internal review.”
The rapper, whose real name is Curtis James, made the incident public in a series of social media posts, noting that he was never warned of the threat.
“I take this threat very seriously and im consulting with my legal counsel regarding my options moving forward,” he wrote in one of Sunday’s three posts Instagram account. “I am concerned that I was not previously advised of this threat by the NYPD..”
Gonzales and 50 Cent appear to have a prior history together and the rapper previously accused the deputy inspector of unfairly targeting Sunset Park Love & Lust, a nightclub the rapper frequents. The club’s owner Imran Jairam alleged that the club was targeted for inspections and biased enforcement when they failed to provide Gonzalez with round-trip plane tickets to Puerto Rico and a generator after Hurricane Maria, according to legal filings obtained by the Post.
50 Cent took up Jairam’s cause, and in May, noted on Instagram, “They trying to shut him down.”
At the time, a spokesman for the NYPD Captains Endowment Association President said Gonzalez was being unfairly accused.
“This is a crooked club looking to shift focus from their bad conduct by making spurious allegations against an outstanding commander,” the spokesman told the New York Pos
