INDIANA (CelebrityAccess) – An Indianapolis man was arrested after ramming his SUV through a security gate and then kicking in a door at the home of musician John Mellencamp, according to The Associated Press.
Officers from the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department responded to an alarm at Mellencamp’s home outside Bloomington early Thursday morning, at which time they found and arrested 48-year-old Robert P. Carter.
No one was home at the time.
Carter, who had been released from the Monroe County Jail after a court appearance Wednesday for having a handgun without a license, reportedly told officers he was there to “arrest Mellencamp for supporting a government” he doesn’t support. Carter also reportedly received a mental health evaluation earlier in the week.
He was subsequently charged with burglary, residential entry and criminal trespass, reports AP
