(CelebrityAccess) — Controversial R&B artist R. Kelly hinted that he might be planning a tour of the Pacific Rim in a tweet on Tuesday.
The tweet indicated that he was planning shows in Australia, New Zealand and Sri Lanka, but now appears to have been removed from Kelly’s Twitter feed.
In an interview with CNN, Kelly’s attorney Steve Greenberg said he did not believe the tweeted tour plans were accurate.
Kelly has been facing a backlash after years of rumors of sexual misconduct were bolstered by the recent Lifetime docuseries “Surviving R. Kelly,” which recounts allegations of predatory behavior and pedophilia leveled against Kelly.
After the docuseries aired, Sony Records, the parent of R. Kelly’s label RCA, announced it was parting its business ties with the performer. As well, the docuseries appears to have invigorated his detractors, notably the #MuteRKelly movement, which has been protesting at R. Kelly appearances and calling on broadcasters to boycott his music.
However, he has continued to book shows in recent months and he has vigorously denied the allegations against him.
