SPAIN (CelebrityAccess) Live Nation has acquired a majority stake in Planet Events, the leading promoter of Latin performers in Spain.
The majority stake is retained by Prisa, a Spanish-speaking media conglomerate that includes the El Pais newspaper and Spain’s most popular radio station, Los40, according to IQ. The strategic union gives Live Nation Barcelona the “opportunity to reach new audiences in the region.”
The two entities had previously worked together for shows by Louis Miguel and Juanes and Paul McCartney’s visit to Madrid in 2016.
“We have worked with Live Nation Barcelona on some great shows and events in the past,” Chen Castaño, GM of Planet Events, said. “We now welcome the chance to strengthen our relationship and connect more Spanish and Latin artists with their fans.”
“The opportunity to combine Planet Event’s local expertise and Prisa’s vast audience network with Live Nation’s scale and resources is quite unique and aligns with our commitment to bring more Spanish and Latin music to fans around the world,” added Pino Sagliocco, chairman of Live Nation Barcelona.
Live Nation already has a presence in Barcelona through a joint venture with Barnaby Harrod and Elie Muniz’s Mercury Wheels.
Planet Events properites include festivals Noches del Botanico ande Fitur is Music, plus events Oro Viejo and the Los40 Music Awards.
