ATLANTA (CelebrityAccess) For all the concern about whether Maroon 5 would “take a knee” during their Super Bowl halftime show, or if they should play at all, as soon as the last song was over the focus changed to how well they did, or didn’t, do.

Most of the reviews appear to view their performance as either uninspiring or downright bad.

Deadline Hollywood called it “one of the worst Super Bowl halftime shows ever.”

“Adam Levine and Maroon 5 proved conclusively that they could pull off a halftime show that put Justin Timberlake to shame – at least when it came to ill-considered timing and strongly bleached blandness… and that’s a feat,” wrote Deadline’s Dominic Patten.

The Associated Press’s Mesfin Fekadu was less harsh, saying it was basic, plus a few other adjectives.

“There are a number of words you could use to describe Maroon 5’s halftime show performance: Empty. Boring. Basic. Sleepy. Skippable. Unfulfilling. Unnecessary,” Fekadu said. “And those who came to help save the day didn’t do their jobs: If you blinked you would have missed that Travis Scott and Big Boi performed. Even the gospel choir singer was a struggle — clearly they let the wrong one sing lead Sunday.”

TMZ played it close to the chest, saying that, “Considering all the controversy surrounding the halftime show … it was relatively kosher, and really went off without a hitch. The NFL’s gotta be happy about that.”

TooFab was quick to post a long list of tweets and Instagram posts including the following:

However, when it comes to tweets, comedy writer Jenny Johnson – who once got Chris Brown to delete his Twitter account – probably won the Internet.
