MINNEAPOLIS, Minn (CelebrityAccess) — Country music star Garth Brooks has added a second concert in Minneapolis, seemingly at the request of Minnesota governor Mark Dayton.
Brooks confirmed the second show, which is set for U.S. Bank Stadium on May 3rd, while on a conference call with Governor Dayton and representatives from the local press.
Brooks had planned to make the announcement live during a press conference with Governor Dayton but was forced to cancel due to mechanical issues with his airplane.
During the teleconference, Brooks credited a Twitter post from Governor Dayton’s account as being the trigger for adding the second show, something he has not done on this tour.

However, the fact that Brook’s previously announced Minneapolis date, which is set for May 4th, sold out in under an hour, with 50,000 more fans not able to obtain tickets may have had something to do with the additional performance.
The shows will be Brooks’ first performances in the greater Minneapolis region in more than four years. Brook’s Stadium Tour kicks off on March 9th at the Dome at America’s Center in St. Louis.
Tickets will cost $75.77 plus a $2.70 facility fee, a service charge of $7.25, and a $9.23 tax for a total of $94.95.
