BOSTON, MA (CelebrityAccess) — Hip-Hop acts, including the Dorchester-based rapper Cousin Stizz ruled the roost at the Boston Music Awards. Stizz took home top honors, including Artist of the Year, and he claimed Hip-Hop Artist of the Year for the second time in a row.
Other Boston-based hip-hop performers to win accolades included STL GLD for Live Artist of the Year and Latrell James’ “Okay” for Song of the Year.
Aubrey Haddard, who made waves this year with her album Blue Part won awards for Singer-Songwriter of the Year, and Vocalist of the Year, while Pop Artist of the Year went to “Pretty Girl” recording artist Clairo.
Live Nation’s House of Blues won the award for Live Music Venue of the Year, and Christine Varriale, editor-in-chief of the Allston Pudding Blog, won the award for Promoter of the Year.
The event took place on Wednesday at the House of Blues and included performances by Justin Clancy, country artist Ashley Jordan, and rising hip-hop stars Cliff Notez, and Oompa, who also happened to be named Unsigned Artist of the Year during the ceremony.
