(CelebrityAccess) – Ticketmaster is introducing a new fan-to-fan resale feature within their app.
The announcement follows a rough year for Ticketmaster marred by scalping accusations, a major lawsuit and the closure of the company’s secondary ticketing platforms, GetMeIn And Seatwave, where tickets were regularly being sold at insanely inflated prices.
Now, using Ticketmaster’s new fan-to-fan resale option, the ticket giant says verified fans will be able to buy and sell tickets for face value or less, plus fees. Once sold, the tickets will be reissued to the buyer and completely verified by Ticketmaster.
“Closing down our secondary sites and creating a ticket exchange on Ticketmaster has always been our long-term plan,” said Ticketmaster UK’s Andrew Parsons in a statement. “Our number one priority is to get tickets into the hands of fans so that they can go to the events they love.
“We know that fans are tired of seeing tickets being snapped up just to find them being resold for a profit on secondary websites, so we have taken action,” he continued. “We’re excited to launch our redesigned website which will make buying and selling tickets fast and simple, with all tickets in the same place.”
Ticketmaster’s fan-to-fan resale feature is now available in both the US and the UK.
