LONDON (CelebrityAccess) — Ed Sheeran’s ‘Divide’ is the number one tour for 2018, setting all-time records for the highest-grossing solo tour and highest year-end gross, according to figures compiled by Billboard.
According to Billboard, Sheeran performed 99 shows during the 2018 period, notching up $429 million in revenue and topping his box office results from 2017, when he grossed $122 million from 105 shows.
The change reflects Sheeran’s focus on stadiums over arenas for 2018, including 4 nights at London’s Wembley Stadium, where he grossed $28 million according to Billboard boxscores.
In all, Sheeran’s ‘Divide’ tour has grossed more than half a billion dollars, dwarfing his previous ‘Multiply’ tour in 2014-2015, which generated about $64 million in grosses.
Sheeran’s results for 2018 put him well ahead of his closest rivals at the box office. Taylor Swift’s ‘Reputation’ tour came in second, with $315.1 million in grosses, from 48 shows during the period, followed by Beyoncé and Jay-Z, who grossed $253.5 million from 48 performances, per Billboard.
Bruno Mars and P!ink rounded out the top 5, with Mars raking in $237.7 from 100 shows and Pink grossing $180.4 from 88 performances during the 2018 reporting period.
Other notable entries on Billboard’s top-25 list include The Eagles, touring sans Glenn Frey, who posted $93.4 million from just 34 shows, and Billy Joel, who grossed an impressive $70.2 million from just 24 performances.
