Walking Dead Midseason Finale Has Record-Low Ratings

LOS ANGELES (CelebrityAccess) Maybe people have just had enough of zombies: “The Walking Dead” has seen another low in a year filled with them, this time the lowest-rated midseason finale in the franchise’s history.

The big closer declined 41 percent from last season’s equivalent in adults 18-49, which was on Dec. 8. There was some good news, though, for Season 9’s episode: it was actually up 8 percent from the week before but that episode, “Stradivarius,” was the lowest-rated and least-watched show ever, according to Deadline Hollywood.

Audiences have changed their viewing habits, obviously, and maybe there are only so many zombies to go around. The show was once so popular that arenas would build TWD events where people could run around and escape the undead.

AMC Networks’ stock dropped 10 percent after the Season 9 premiere in October.  The normally tent-pole broadcast saw a whopping 47 percent drop in total views, and a 50 percent drop in the essential 14-49  demo, compared with last year’s premiere.

Then again, “Sunday Night Football” ratings rose from the previous week and the equivalent time last year.
