NEW YORK (CelebrityAccess) Mark Zuckerberg says he isn’t going anywhere, according to an interview with CNN Business.
Investors have asked that the Facebook CEO be replaced by an independent board chairman to provide better oversight of the company but “that’s not the plan” Zuckerberg told CNN’s Laurie Segall at Facebook’s headquarters in Menlo Park, Calif.
Zuckerberg resisted calls for changes to Facebook’s C-Suite and pushed back at much of the criticism leveled over the past year.
“There are big issues, and I’m not trying to say that there aren’t,” he said. “But I do think that sometimes, you can get the flavor from some of the coverage that that’s all there is, and I don’t think that that’s right either.”
CNN Business Exclusive: Mark Zuckerberg stands his ground
After spending much of this year apologizing for Facebook’s many missteps, CEO Mark Zuckerberg sounded defiant in an exclusive interview with CNN on Tuesday.
The interview follows a New York Times investigation suggesting that the company ignored the so-called Russian influence into the 2016 presidential campaign.
“It is not clear to me at all that the report is right,” he said. “A lot of the things that were in that report, we talked to the reporters ahead of time and told them that from everything that we’d seen, that wasn’t true and they chose to print it anyway.”
Zuckerberg also backed Sheryl Sandberg, his chief operating officer and considered the mature personality that buttresses Zuckerberg’s boyish characteristics. Sandberg had been accused of mishandling Facebook’s recent crises.
