LOS ANGELES (CelebrityAccess) JoJo Siwa, the 15-year-old star that has you buying all those bows for your daughter, announced her D.R.E.A.M. tour, presented by Nickelodeon, on Wednesday, coinciding with the launch of her debut EP of the same name.
JoJo’s fame was bourne out of the Lifetime reality TV show “Dance Moms” and she has graduated to being a YouTube star of epic proportions with 8 million subscribers.
The tour starts at Comerica Theatre in Phoenix May 17 and hits 22 cities, wrapping at Austin, Texas’ Bass Concert Hall June 26. The EP has four songs on it but Jojo has been releasing popular songs and their corresponding YouTube videos for years.
Her signature Jojo Bows became such a fashion statement for girls that they made news in the UK last year when they were banned from schools, angering parents. The bows, apparently, were a source of bullying when their authenticity was questioned by schoolmates, with one mum commenting that they were banned at her daughter’s school “because of the ‘that’s not a real jojo bow’ and the competitiveness of them. E.g. How many and which colours and do you have the limited edition ones!”
The irony of the controversy was not lost on fans considering Jojo’s positive, ridiculously high-energy personality and her music, accented by her anti-bullying anthem “Boomerang.”
The “Rainbow Presale” and “BowBows Presale” start tomorrow. Citi Cardmembers get their shot Wednesday, and the Live Nation and AEG presales are Thursday with general onsale Friday.
