CHICAGO (CelebrityAccess) – Chance the Rapper announced Thursday during the second annual summit for his nonprofit Social Works, that he would pledge $1 million to a number of mental health programs throughout his home city of Chicago, according to Pitchfork.

The 25-year-old, who has become known for his philanthropic efforts, also announced to those in attendance that six mental health initiatives will be receiving a $100,000 grant to assist in aiding their contributions, while a new initiative, My State of Mind, will focus on improving mental health resources in Cook County, Illinois.

The pledge arrives a year after Chance poured more than $2 million into the Chicago public school system with help of major companies like Google.

To date, SocialWorks has also put on 33 OpenMike events across the Chicago area, bringing together artists such as Childish Gambino and Kanye West, and serving as a sort of incubator for students looking to explore their creative aspirations in a safe and encouraging space.
