NASHVILLE (CelebrityAccess) Loretta Lynn will be honored with Country Music Television’s “Artist of a Lifetime” award during CMT’s upcoming “Artists of the Year” celebration Oct. 17.
Lynn joins previous winners Shania Twain, Kenny Rogers and Merle Haggard. The 86-year-old performer, who has studio album Wouldn’t It Be Great to be released Sept. 28, will be presented with the award by actress Sissy Spacek, who won an Oscar portraying Lynn in the 1980 film “Coal Miner’s Daughter.”
“I’m always so proud when I receive any awards for my music, but when I heard it was this year’s CMT Lifetime Achievement Award it made me really happy,” Lynn said in a statement. “It’s an honor to be able to make music that people enjoy and I’m really excited to have a new album coming out. Thank you CMT for acknowledging me with this award and for honoring the women in country music at Artists of the Year.”
Last year’s show focused on the mass shooting at the Route 91 Harvest music festival in Las Vegas; this year’s edition will be an all-female affair, celebrating the contributions of women to country music.
CMT Artists of the Year is expected to be broadcast Wednesday, Oct. 17, at 8 p.m. ET/PT on CMT.
