In a tweet on Saturday, Smith said he had been ordered to rest his voice for a week before heading to Asia and the Pacific Rim for a trans-Pacific tour next month.
Hello beautiful people. Thank you for your lovely messages. Just been to see my voice doctor in Boston after last night’s scare in Vegas, everything is luckily ok but I need to rest it this week in preparation for the start of Asia tour. I’m sorry everyone. Smith’s Asian run kicks off in Singapore at the city’s Indoor Stadium on October 2nd and wraps on Nov. 20th when he performs at Perth Arena in Australia.
Smith had been slated to headline the iHeartMusic festival but canceled at the last minute.
At the time, he took to Twitter to write: “Dear all, Due to unforeseen circumstances which transpired after rehearsal, it became clear that I’m sadly unable to perform at the iHeart Radio Music Festival in Vegas tonight. I am so so sorry about this and I want to apologize to all my fans. All my love, always. Sam”
Smith is touring behind his latest album “The Thrill of it All.”
