CANADA (CelebrityAccess) – The 2018 Canadian Country Music Association Awards took place last night in Hamilton, Ontario, with Shania Twain as this year’s host.
The show opened with a musical tribute to Twain by three of Canadian country music’s new leading ladies: Jess Moskaluke, Kira Isabella and Madeline Merlo.
Twain, who was also the evening’s big winner, taking home a number of honors including the Generation Award, used her platform to both celebrate the inroads women have made within the country music industry throughout recent years while also calling for more progress.
Other winners included James Barker Band’s Chills, who picked up single of the year, The Reklaws, who won rising star, and Jess Moskaluke whose Past the Past took home album of the year.
Country music vet Terri Clark was also inducted into the hall of fame. Keith Urban, who performed his song “Never Coming Down” did the honors while others superstar friends including Reba and Brooks and Dunn pre-recorded warm wishes and congratulations.
