SAN LUIS OBISPO (CelebrityAccess) — The operators of the Vina Robles Amphitheatre and its former general manager Tim Reed settled a long-standing legal dispute before the case was scheduled to go to trial later this year.
According to the San Luis Obispo Tribune, a settlement was reached late Friday during a mediation session between attorneys for the Vina Robles Amphitheatre, managing partner Hans Michel, and its former general manager Tim Reed.
The Tribune reported that details of the settlement remained private and must still be finalized by the court, which will hold a hearing on the matter on August 22nd.
Reed sued Vina Robles Entertainment, LLC and another company held by the owners of the venue in 2016, alleging that he was wrongfully terminated after the end of the first concert season at the amphitheater, resulting in lost shares of the business that he was promised in exchange for below-market value work.
The case was due to go to trial in October, and if found in favor of Reed, could have resulted in the dissolution of Vina Robles Entertainment, LLC, the Tribune reported.
Attorneys for the parties declined to comment to the Tribune, but in a statement released over the weekend, Reed said:
“Although it may appear to an outsider that the amphitheatre popped up overnight in 2013, it was actually a 20-year effort that came at significant personal costs. I lost jobs over it, I lost friends over it, and it took years from my life. In the end, it was worthwhile to be able to give this gift to the people and the County of San Luis Obispo.”
After his departure from the Vina Robles, Reed lent his expertise to the construction of the Big Sky Brewing Company Amphitheater in Missoula, MT, and currently oversees production for Knitting Factory Entertainment.
