ISTANBUL (CelebrityAccess) — Harun İzer has been named as director of the Istanbul Jazz Festival while Efruz Çakırkaya has been promoted to serve as the Director of the Istanbul Music Festival.
According to Hurriyat, İzer comes to his new role after a seven-year tenure as the Deputy Director of the festival, while Çakırkaya spent ten years as the Deputy Director of the Istanbul Music Fest.
İzer will step into the role to replace former jazz festival director Pelin Opcin, who headed to London in February for a new gig as Director of Programming at Serious, the noted London jazz festival.
The new promotions were made by the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (İKSV), which oversees both events.
Yeşim Gürer Oymak, who previously served as director of the Istanbul Music Festival, will continue to serve in his current role of Deputy General Director as well as assuming the role of Artistic Advisor for the IMF.
