LOS ANGELES (CelebrityAccess) — Actor James Woods, who has become better known for sparking controversy on social media than for his acting, revealed that his agent had dropped him as a client on the 4th of July.

Woods made the revelation via social media, tweeting a portion of an email (first reported by Mediaite ) that he claims came from his former agent Ken Kaplan, which said “It’s the 4th of July and I’m feeling patriotic. I don’t want to represent you anymore. I mean I could go on a rant but you know what I’d say.”

Woods went on to note that unlike himself, Kaplan was liberal in his political views.

Woods also said that he took Kaplan to task over free speech, explaining: “if you’re feeling patriotic, you would appreciate free speech and one’s right to think as an individual.” However, he failed to make a case as to how Kaplan ending his relationship with Woods curtailed the actor’s first amendment rights.

In recent years, Woods Twitter commentary seems to have been his focus and made him a popular figure among some conservatives and he has more than 1 million followers on Twitter, at least some of which are probably actually people.

While he’s had several recurring television roles, including two episodes of Andrew Dice Clay comedy “Dice” last year, his last film credit was in 2016 for the animated flop “Bling.”
