CHICAGO (CelebrityAccess) — A woman says she sustained serious injuries after she was brutally beaten outside of the House of Blues in Chicago on Sunday.
According to NBC Chicago, Carly Whitaker says her trouble began after she was escorted outside of the venue, where she was accosted five people, while venue security stood nearby and watched.
Whitaker claims that the fight started inside when a man demanded that Whitaker’s friend move and punched the friend in the face when she didn’t comply.
Security then ejected Whitaker and the man, along with other people in the man’s group, which is where Whitaker says they continued their attack.
“As I’m on the phone with [Whitaker’s friend], they let the five people out that were fighting us inside, and as soon as I realized they were coming up, I dropped to the ground and my first instinct was to block my teeth,” she told NBC.
She claims she laid on the ground while the attack continued, thinking that the security staff would intervene, but alleges that they only watched.
Whitaker told NBC that she’s retained counsel and plans to take legal action against HoB.
A rep for the Live Nation-owned venue chain did not respond to a request for comment.
