LONDON, UK (CelebrityAccess) – Music Week has today (June 26) revealed that Sony Music UK has announced the launch of a brand new label, Since ’93.
The move follows a recent announcement from WMG earlier this month that it would be launching Elektra Music Group as its own frontline label set to operate out of the company’s New York offices.
Since ’93 will be affiliated with the major’s RCA label group in London and run by co-Presidents Glyn Aikins and Riki Bleau. Aikins, who previously worked in A&R for Relentless Records, Virgin and Virgin EMI, has signed acts including So Solid Crew, Lethal Bizzle, Roll Deep, Naughty Boy and Emeli Sandé while Bleau, who started his career at Channel U, manages Naughty Boy and publishes Sandé and Sam Smith through Avant Garde Music.
The pair will report to David Dollimore, president, RCA Records and Ministry Of Sound.
With a particular emphasis on nurturing grassroots talent to international success, it appears the Since ’93 team has hit the ground running. They’ve already signed West London rapper Fredo, grime artist Loski, and fast-rising Manchester MC, Aitch, with plenty more names to come.
