ENGLAND (CelebrityAccess) Ray Davies said in an interview yesterday that a 20-year feud is apparently over and The Kinks will be playing live music again.
Davies, 74, told the U.K.’s Channel 4 that the group – with longtime members Mick Avory and Dave Davies – has been “making a new Kinks album” and that has led to a resolution between those two former bandmates.
“The trouble is, the two remaining members – my brother Dave and Mick – never got along very well. But I’ve made that work in the studio and it’s fired me up to make them play harder, and with fire, Davies said, according to the Telegraph, adding that he hoped to “recapture those moments.”
“I’ve got all these songs that I wrote for the band when we – not broke up – parted company, and I think it’s kind of an appropriate time to do it,” he added.
“It won’t be well-organized like the Rolling Stones,” he elaborated. “You must praise the Rolling Stones for being great at publicity and a great band great at organizing their careers and Mick [Jagger] has done an incredible PR job and it’s kind of inspiring to see them doing it.”
“But The Kinks will probably be playing the local bar.”
The last public performance for the band was in 1996 after several lackluster albums and epic disagreements between the brothers. The band itself began in high fashion when Avory knocked Dave out cold onstage at Cardiff’s Capital Theatre in May 1965 because of comment about his drums. Avory thought he had killed his bandmate, fled the stage and went into hiding.
