BERLIN (CelebrityAccess) — In a sign of the continuing shift to streaming music, German online dance music retailer DJshop/Djtunes announced that it will be ceasing its digital download service for both of its websites.
In a statement on their former download page, the company said:
“After many successful years, DjTunes was shut down in June 2018. If you have a remaining credit at the old online store, please contact us via accounting@dance-all-day.com and request a payout.”
In an additional press statement, they elaborated on their reasons for the change. “As sales from digital downloads have been declining for a while and the big part of music consumption is obviously shifting towards streaming, we decided to shut down the digital download section of djshop.de/djtunes within the next 48 hours,” the company said in a press statement.
The site will continue its business of selling mail order DJ equipment and supplies, as well as vinyl records with an updated store page.
DJ Shop is one of the oldest online dance music vendors, with more than 20 years in the retail business.
