LOS ANGELES (CelebrityAccess) Margot Kidder, 69, known as Lois Lane in the original “Superman” movie franchise, has died.
Kidder had been working up until this year, despite several public battles with bipolar disorder and brief homelessness in 1996. Kidder passed away according to a representative at Franzen-Davis Funeral Home in Livingston, Mont., who alerted TMZ to the news. No cause of death is currently known.
Kidder’s career began in the 1960s appearing in low-budget Canadian films and TV series, then appeared in Brian De Palma’s cult thriller “Sister” in 1973, followed by several major films including “The Great Waldo Pepper” alongside Robert Redford in 1975, but her big break came in the Superman film series that began in 1978. She had a highly publicized manic episode and nervous breakdown in 1996.
