NEW ZEALAND (CelebrityAccess) – According to Billboard, Live Nation has appointed entertainment industry vet Stuart Clumpas to the role of chairman of its New Zealand affiliate.
In his new role, Clumpas, who co-founded the U.K.’s T in the Park and V festivals, will be tasked with turning New Zealand’s vibrant entertainment market into a valuable and globally viable stand-alone entity.
“Whilst we will always be close geographically to our cousins in Australia, the demographics of the two countries have moved in different paths over the past 20 years, and it’s time to capitalize and build on that in a positive fashion for New Zealand,” he says.
“Generally, it’s a country on the up. In years to come, I’d like to be able to turn around and have people say, ‘New Zealand is part of a world tour’ and an artist asks LN, ‘where’s my New Zealand date?’ It’s a challenge,” he adds, “but I’m looking forward to it.”
Clumpas joins the Live Nation NZ team as Rick Latham (formerly operations manager) and Steve Wheadon (formerly production manager) are named head of operations and head of production, respectively. Promoter Mark Kneebone has also been appointed head of promotions and will be overseeing strategic event, talent development and marketing.
