PHILADELPHIA, PA (CelebrityAccess) – Temple University in Philadelphia announced Friday that it will be revoking the honorary doctorate it awarded to Bill Cosby in 1991 following the comedian’s sexual assault conviction.
The university’s board of trustees made the decision following Thursday’s jury verdict, which found Cosby guilty of drugging and molesting Andrea Constand who formerly managed the school’s women’s basketball team back in 2004.
20 other colleges and universities across the U.S. had already rescinded honorary degrees from Cosby prior to the conviction. Others set to join Temple in revoking his honors include Notre Dame, Johns Hopkins University, Carnegie Mellon University, Boston College and Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut.
