SURREY, England (CelebrityAccess) A cricket club in Surrey County in England is following the lead of UK Prime Minister Theresa May and intends to reduce the amount of waste of single-use plastic.
Surrey County Cricket Club and the Kia Oval have announced that they will continue with their efforts to reduce the waste. The club sells about 1.2 million pints of lager and ales each year, and launched reusable cubs at the first match of the season against Hampshire April 20, according to Pan Stadia.
The facility implements Stack-Cup, which boasts a handle design that negates the need for for cardboard trays or plastic sleeves, according to Pan Stadia. Fans are required to pay a £1 for the first cup.
“Since we first brought them to the Kia Oval in 2015, we have found re-usable pint cups to be an effective part of our plan to reduce our usage of single use plastic while providing a memorable fan experience,” Surrey chief executive Richard Gould told the magazine. “Reducing our environmental impact is important to us and this agreement with Stack-Cup saves us from sending hundreds of thousands of plastic cups to landfill sites every year.”
