LAS VEGAS (CelebrityAccess) – In his first return to Las Vegas since the nightmarish shooting at a country music festival, country star Jason Aldean was named entertainer of the year at Sunday’s Academy of Country Music Awards.
It’s been a rough year. I just want to say thanks to everybody that reached out to us, that showed us love and support over the last six months. It meant the world to us,” Aldean said in accepting the award.
Aldean was on stage last October during the deadly shooting attack at the Route the 91 Harvest Festival in October that left 58 people dead.
Chris Stapleton, who arrived at the awards with eight nominations to his name, took home just two trophies– for male vocalist of the year and album of the year.
Carrie Underwood made her first television appearance since she suffered a facial injury that required more than 40 stitches in a fall in her home late last year. Looking lovely, Underwood performed her hit “Cry Pretty.”
Miranda Lambert took home the award for Female Vocalist of the Year for song of the year for her hit, “Tin Man.”.
Vocali Event of the Year (whatever that is) went to Keith Urban for and to mark the occasion, Urban performed a duet of “Coming Home” with Julia Michaels.
