LOS ANGELES (CelebrityAccess) — Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson proved that he’s still a draw at the box office after his latest movie “Rampage” won the weekend for Warner Bros., generating an impressive $148.6M worldwide, according to estimate compiled by comScore.

Directed by Brad Peyton, “Rampage” features Johnson cast as Davis Okoye, a primatologist who develops a close bond with a silverback gorilla who he must battle to rescue after a genetic experiment goes awry, leaving mutated apes rampaging across North America.

Rampage, which had an estimated $120 million production budget, opened to a $34.5M debut in North American cinemas, besting last week’s champion, the creepy “A Quiet Place” which itself added $32.6M domestically and $54.9M worldwide.

Warner’s “Ready Player One” continued to perform internationally, adding an additional $45.0M worldwide over the weekend, but fell off in North American theaters, generating an estimated $11.2M according to comScore.
