CONNECTICUT (CelebrityAccess) Milos Forman, 86, filmmaker with two Ocsars for best picture, died in Connecticut April 13, according to his agent.
Forman, a native of then-Czechoslovakia but a U.S. citizen since the 1968 Soviet invasion, was the man behind “One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest” and “Amadeus,” which both won top honors by the Academy of Arts And Sciences but that’s not all. His works also include “Man on the Moon,” “The People vs. Larry Flynt,” “Ragtime,” and “Hair. His latest film was “A Walk Worthwhile” in 2009.
Milos Forman was our friend and our teacher. He was a master filmmaker – no one better at capturing small unrepeatable moments of human behavior. We made two movies together and every day spent with him was a unique adventure. Milos loved life. I will miss his laughter. pic.twitter.com/1ER5ExUUHx

As for “One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest,” Forman once said that he was hired by producers Michael Douglas and Saul Zaentz because “I seemed to be in their price range.” However, as noted by the New York Times, he liked to coax great performances from the actors playing lesser characters so, although Jack Nicholson won best actor for the film, little-known Louise Fletcher won an Oscar, too, for her portrayal of Nurse Ratchet.

When Forman completed “Man On The Moon,” he married and had two children, naming one Andrew in honor of Andrew Kaufman and the other James in honor of the film’s star, Jim Carrey.
