(CelebrityAccess) Huey Lewis has canceled all of his performances, admitting that Meniere’s disease has damaged his hearing so much that he cannot sing.
“Two and a half months ago, just before a show in Dallas, I lost most of my hearing,” Lewis wrote. “Although I can still hear a little, one on one, and on the phone, I can’t hear music we3l enough to sing. The lower frequencies distort violently making it impossible to find pitch.”
There appears to be hope. Lewis has met with the House Ear Institute, the Stanford Ear Institute and the Mayo Clinic and the doctors all agree that Lewis needs to cancel performances “until I improve.”
The sad irony is that Lewis is the talent show judge in “Back To The Future” that has to tell Marty McFly that his music is “just too loud.”
Upcoming shows included the Norsk Hostfest in Minot, N.D. And performing with Jimmy Buffett at Boston’s Fenway Park.
