NEW YORK (CelebrityAccess) — YouTube’s music video for Daddy Yankee’s smash hit “Despacito” was just one of the numerous videos apparently defaced by hackers on the company’s Vevo platform.

Hackers replaced cover images and thumbnails for numerous videos on the platform with a photo depicting a group of masked gunmen, which itself was taken from a Netflix video. The defacement affected dozens of videos on the music streaming platform, including content from artists like Shakira, Selena Gomez, Drake and Taylor Swift.

The videos were temporarily taken offline while the defacement was addressed.

According to the BBC, the hackers, who identified themselves as Prosox and Kuroi’sh, also appeared to use a script to replace video titles with pro-Palestinian messages.

Vevo confirmed the security breach on Tuesday and issued a statement which said: “Vevo can confirm that a number of videos in its catalogue were subject to a security breach today, which has now been contained. We are working to reinstate all videos affected and our catalogue to be restored to full working order. We are continuing to investigate the source of the breach.”

As of Tuesday afternoon, the videos appeared to have been restored.
