BRISBANE, Queensland (CelebrityAccess) A man was fined $1,050 AUD (US$807) for flying a drone over the Suncorp Stadium during an Ed Sheeran concert in Brisbane, Australia, March 21.

The fine was issued for the “hazardous operation of a drone,” according to the Brisbane Times.  The Civil Aviation Safety Authority said the drone was flown “at night, in a popular area, within 30 meters of people and beyond the line of sight,” according to the paper, and each one of those is a problem.

Police said they spotted the man flying the craft and passed the information on to CASA, which later issued a statement that drones are prohibited at all Commonwealth Games venues and events.

GearBrain noted that U.S. drone pilots face similar restrictions but it’s hard to locate the culprits if they abandon their crafts at the scene.  A drone recently dropped contraband behind the walls of a Florida prison but authorities never found the drone nor the pilot, and a drone recently caused a helicopter crash in South Carolina.
