MACON, GA (CelebrityAccess) Yes, the only two living members of the Allman Brothers Band will be playing in Macon, Ga., May 17. No, they won’t be playing at the same concert.
Dickey Betts, of the Dickey Betts Band, is scheduled to play Macon City Auditorium for a sold-out show alongside the Devon Allman Project featuring Duane Betts. Meanwhile, later that night at the Hargray Capitol Theatre, the other living member, Jaimoe Johanson, will be performing in his Jaimoe’s Jasssz Band. A portion of the proceeds from both shows will go toward The Big House Museum, a museum dedicated to the Allman Brothers, according to The Macon Telegraph.
Marketing director Maggie Reimer told the paper that Betts and Johanson have not been in the same town since 1999, excluding Gregg Allman’s funeral last year.
The other four members – Duane Allman, Berry Oakley, Butch Trucks and Gregg Allman – are buried at the city’s Rose Hill Cemetery.
