NASHVILLE, TN (CelebrityAccess) — Jack White’s Third Man Records has laid off seven employees at their Nashville offices as the label tries to pare expenses.
According to the Nashville Tennessean, a Third Man exec, through a publicist, said the layoffs were part of an effort by the label to “streamline” operations.
Affected employees included general interns and assistants, as well as staff in the design and events division at the label.
After the layoffs, 28 employees remain at the company’s Nashville location, which includes a mail order vinyl unit, a lie music venue, a small recording studio and the local office for the Detroit-based record label.
Laid-off employees were asked to sign separation agreements that would pay them cash in exchange for not disclosing information about the label, the Tennessean reported.
The layoffs follow a filing with the Tennessee Secretary of State in January that revealed that Third Man Vinyl owed a creditor $1 million. The identity of the creditor was concealed behind Corporation Service Company, a tax services and corporate compliance company that represented the creditor in the filings, per the Tennessean.
