LOS ANGELES (CelebrityAccess) Live Nation President Of Global Touring recently told Variety that not only is Justin Timberlake’s upcoming tour a success but has already made a lot of money.
“We’ve got 50 shows on sale in North America and 16 in Europe, and we’re over 700,000 tickets (sold) and $100 million gross,” Fogel told the trade magazine. “It’s pretty staggering. We’re into our third shows in Los Angeles, New York, Chicago and Toronto; We’re into double [shows] in probably a dozen markets. It’s huge.”
JT’s star power dimmed recently with the lukewarm reception of his latest album, Man of the Woods, but Fogel and experts who talked to Variety stressed that the tour’s success reflects the years Timberlake has been a superstar and not one album.
For instance, one exec at Timberlake’s record company told Variety that the third single from the album, “Say Something,” is shaping up to be a “mega hit.” It was also noted that JT’s fan base spans generations from *Nsync to his solo career beginning in 2002.
Timberlake also has had a at least one Top 10 hit every two years, including the ubiquitous “Can’t Stop The Feeling.” Variety also noted that JT’s last tour was one of the highest-grossing of the decade.
Timberlake’s tour kicks off March 13.
