SAN FRANCISCO (CelebrityAccess) Hard to believe, but The Lonely Island will be taking the stage in a concert scenario for the first time if all goes as planned.

The musical comedy trio of Andy Samberg, Akiva Schaffer and Jorma Taccone, which has brought to the world iconic songs like “I’m On A Boat” and “Threw It On The Ground,” is expected to perform at Clusterfest, a three-day comedy and musical venture produced by Comedy Central, scheduled at San Francisco’s Civic Center Plaza and Bill Graham Civic Auditorium June 1-3. The festival features acts like Jon Stewart, Amy Schumer, Third Eye Blind, Salt-N-Pepa and Action Bronson, with The Lonely Island taking one of the top slots.

The boys were more than happy to announce the date.

It’s been a long time coming. The act has been a client of UTA’s Nick Nuciforo, and management client of Bill Silva, but for whatever reason has yet to take the stage. The act was expected to play the Aragon Ballroom in Chicago in 2013 but the show was canceled, which still has at least one person smarting.

That was the year Lonely Island was supposed to tour, with the trio telling Rolling Stone all about how they were going to support The Wack Album.

“It’s just a matter of scheduling now,” Samberg told RS, mentioning the canceled Chicago gig,

“We just realized that we needed a few months of free time to really do it right,” Schaffer added. “And we want to do it right. We’re not real performers: we have to start from the ground up, so it’s extra difficult for us.”

Whether the upcoming show is a prelude to a tour is unknown, but first the band needs to get to the show.
