NEW YORK (CelebrityAccess) Jan Maxwell, 61, Broadway star, died at her home in Manhattan Feb. 11 after a long battle with breast cancer, according to playwright husband Robert Emmet Lunney.

Lunney told the New York Times her cause of death was leptomeningeal disease, a consequence of breast cancer. Maxwell earned five Tony Award nominations in seven years.

She earned her first nomination playing Baroness of Vulgaria on the Broadway version of “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang,” followed by nominations for “Coram Boy,” “Lend Me A Tenor,” “The Royal Family” and “Follies.”

Maxwell also had a television career, starring in “I Am Michael” alongside James Franco and was a regular on the show “Gossip Girl.”
