NEW YORK (CelebrityAccess) Paul Simon has announced he wi8ll embark on his “Homeward Bound – The Farewell Tour” beginning May 16 at Rogers Arena in Vancouver.
The tour will travel through North America and the U.K., wrapping with the previously announced performance at the BST Festival at London’s Hyde Park July 15. Special guests James Taylor and Bonnie Raitt will not only join Simon at the Hyde Park show but also July 13 at Dublin’s RDS Arena.
“I’ve often wondered what it would feel like to reach the point where I’d consider bringing my performing career to a natural end,” Simon said in a statement. “Now I know: it feels a little unsettling, a touch exhilarating and something of a relief. I love making music, my voice is still strong, and my band is a tight, extraordinary group of gifted musicians. I think about music constantly. I am very grateful for a fulfilling career and, of course, most of all to the audiences who heard something in my music that touched their hearts.”
Simon’s creer is legendary. As half of Simon & Garfunkel he received 16 Grammy Awards and received a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award for his work in Simon & Garfunkel in 2003. He has released 13 studio albums with 29 top 40 singles in the U.S. and is a member of the Songwriters Hall of Fame and Rock And Roll Hall of Fame, both as a member of Simon & Garfunkel and as a solo artist.
