DENMARK (CelebrityAccess) Eminem, who hasn’t toured for four years, has announced his European dates, including headlining Denmark’s Roskilde Festival for the first time.
The rapper hasn’t been a recluse, having great time slots at last year’s Reading and Leeds Festival in the U.K. This year, after dates at Coachella and Bonnaroo among other festival appearances, Marshall Mathers will be going overseas starting at Oslo, Norway’s Obos Oslo Sommertime Festival June 30, with Roskilde lined up July 4. Other stops include Friends Arena in Stockholm July 2, Frauenfeld Open Air Festival in Zurich, Switzerland July 6, and two dates at twickenham stadium in London July 14-15.
“Eminem is one of the biggest artists of his generation, and we are absolutely thrilled to finally get him to Denmark. We have wanted him at Roskilde Festival for so many years, and I must admit I almost shed a tear of joy when I got the confirmation,” Roskilde’s head of programming, Anders Wahren, said in a statement. “Eminem’s importance can’t be overstated. More than anyone else, he has brought hip-hop to new audiences. His Reading show last year served as proof that he can conquer a festival crowd, and we can’t wait to see him on our iconic Orange Stage.”
The Danish nonprofit festival, which will also be featuring Bruno Mars, Gorillaz and David Byrne, is one of the oldest major festivals in the world, dating back to 1971.
