OTTAWA, ONTARIO (CelebrityAccess) Even Canadians have their limits when it comes to cold weather.
The federal government canceled outdoor musical performances for the New Year’s Eve festivities to be held at Parliament Hill in the country’s capital, Ottawa, Ontario. Temperatures are expected to drop to -24 Celsius with a wind chill factor of -35C, according to CTV News.
Scheduled performers included Kardinal Offishall, Carl Muren, Evana Muren and DJ Shub. The modified performances will include the Christmas Lights Across Canada multimedia show.
“Of course it’s a bit of a disappointment with this extreme cold weather,” Heritage Minister Melanie Joly told The Canadian Press, “but we have to deal with it and making sure that Canadians are safe and everything is well taken care of in terms of public health we decided to modify the celebration.”
The scheduled pyrotechnics and laser shows are expected to launch at midnight despite concerns about equipment failure, according to CTV News
