LOS ANGELES (CelebrityAccess) – dick clark productions and ABC have announced that Mariah Carey will return to Times Square to perform for a live audience just minutes before the ball drops on “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2018.”
Carey joins previously announced Times Square performers singer/songwriter Camila Cabello, and Sugarland on Sunday Dec. 31st, beginning at 8:00 p.m. EST on the ABC Television Network.
Carey’s performance last year on “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve” show in Times Square was by all accounts a disaster with the singer suffering major technical difficulties throughout.
Afterwards a representative for Carey told Billboard that the “production set her up to fail.” Dick Clark productions immediately hit back, saying the accusation that it “would ever intentionally compromise the success of any artist is defamatory, outrageous and frankly absurd.”
A shared statement today from Carey & dick clark productions says, “We can all agree that last year didn’t go exactly as planned and we are thrilled to move forward together to provide America with an incredible night of music and celebration on Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2018. See you in Times Square!”
Carey first appeared on Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve in 2005 when she became the very first artist to perform live from Times Square on the program.
